Despite being a big Boom Bip fan, I somehow missed his Neon Neon project with Gruff Rhys. Glad I finally heard this catchy pop album and I’m especially digging this Star Wars inspired track (featuring Har Mar).

The ever-delightful-Canadian-indie-rap-star known as Buck 65 has a great zombie themed music video for Zombie Delight, off of 20 Odd Years. I missed this video when it first came out, but I happened to be working on a zombie song myself when I noticed this video over on Z’s bloghole.

The tongue in check humor in Zombie Delight reminds me of Buck’s 15 year old indie-classic “Centaur“.

This is a song I made with ytcracker and MC Lars for their Digital Gangster lp. The song isn’t about 9/11 itself, it’s more about the use of 9/11 to justify fear mongering and lack of common sense. I mention the overreaction to Star Simpson and the guy whose bike was mistaken for a bomb, etc.

Here’s an hour long mix of fantastically nerdy music for your earholes, recorded live off the DNA’s soundboard for July’s Pulsewave SF show. This mix features some skweee, hip hop, chip music, and elctro pop. Personally, I think it’s good work out music too.

Beefy just posted a video for his song “Sidekick“, which is a ode to Mario’s taller brother…. and all the other video game sidekicks out there. The song is off of Beef’s album With Sprinkles.

Nerdcore For Life, the great indie doc that followed the rise of nerdcore hip hop, is now viewable on Hulu. So if you were to cheap to buy the dvd for just $17, you can get the whole thing for freehole. I think there’s some way for me to link directly to my scenes, which are extremely short, but I’m too lazy to figure it out. Also; Beefy is so awesome!

Here’s a blast from the past… a fan made video for Optimus Rhyme‘s epic “Obey The Moderator”. The band is defunct now, but I wish I could see them perform this track live one more time.

Nerdcore For Life, the epic nerd music documentary, is finally available. The movie features interviews with many of my favorite rappers and beatmakers talking about their passions. Surprisingly, it’s only $17 with shipping included!

I released my first full length album in 2008, under the band name Drown Radio. The album, titled Me Geek Pretty One Day, is heavily hip-hop influenced with lots of nerdy lyrics and head nodding instrumentals. I’d hesitate to call it a nerdcore rap album, since there are serious songs on there, but the whole album definitely has a nerdy vibe throughout.

I’ve finally re-released the album on Bandcamp, including the remixes by 8bit bEtty and Bomarr. If you haven’t heard it yet, you should check it out. I’ve listed the album at the low low price of $6, but if you use the promo code “g33k” you can get the whole album for just $3!

Doc Oc has worked on many kick ass projects, including the 8-Bit Dr. Horrible project and his amazing bead sprite pixel art. I’m stoked to see him staying productive and teaming up with one of my favorite nerdrappers.
