Last night I made a prototype for a new addition to my Doc Pop craft line. It’s a wallet made for my iPhone out of tailored scraps of raw denim. The denim comes from a pair of black Imperials that matches my newest pair (did I mention I bought a pair of Imperial Kings?).
It’s based [...]
Yesterday was keen. I had a custom order from my friend Isaac who works at 826 Valencia. On the weekends he works security at Zeitgiest, so I met up with a bunch of friends and dropped it off there. Isaac is an awesome dude, so I added the hidden embroidery as a surprise.
Anti-Yo will soon be releasing their newest yo-yo, and they have asked me to design and manufacture the bags for it.
The “Risky Busine$$” should start shipping this week. It is an updated version of “The Busine$$” that is made from X (wherein X represents some ungodly expensive rare metal that I can’t recall the name [...]
The crew at LoveLife are my heroes. They make these fantastic messenger bags made out of re-used vinyl signs and upholstery.
I really credit LoveLife with getting me into working with scraps and apparel, check out my ScrapLife series of blog entries.
Well for half a year (or longer) I had been talk with Roxanne at LoveLife [...]
This saturday (august 11th), Modern Times Bookstore on Valencia and
20th ST in SF, will have their first craft fair. Crafticon, which runs
from noon till 8pm, features local artisans and baked goodies.
I’ll be there with my comics, yo-yos, and my new 40 oz beer cozies and
slim wallets both made from tailored scraps of raw selvage denim.
Also, [...]
Spent all day sewing coffee cozies then I bought some 40 oz and 24 oz beers for research.
I’m assuming I can write these off.
I got a custom order from Matt Dalton today to make a beer cozy similar to my last one, but for a smaller bottle. He wants a matching wallet as well.
I went to Zeitgeist friday night with Emma and her friend Poncho. Avoiding my usual rules, I mixed different alcohols. Starting with an order of 3 shots of Fernet and a bottle of nigori sake, then a shot of whiskey and some of Poncho’s tequila. I think there is probably a rule that anybody named [...]
I did a trunk show yesterday called “Mission Indie Mart”. I had wallets, cozies, and comics for sale and actually did pretty well. Something interesting happened though, I heard someone refer to a coffee cozy as a “kah-see” instead of a “koh-zee“.
About, half an hour later somebody else said it that way too, adding that [...]
I’ve always felt a little wasteful for heavily using those disposable coffee cup cozies, so I decided to make my own using scraps from tailored jeans.
Introducing the world’s first selvage coffee jacket!
Of course I used scraps from raw denim jeans that I had tailored, and I used the new chain stitch machine for all the [...]
After two months of preparation, I’m glad to announce my newest project is finally rolling. I’ve started doing tailoring for Kiya’s high end denim store Self Edge. Offering chain stitched hems has been very important to Kiya, so he contacted me to help him find an industrial machine. He had already picked out one, that [...]
